Carlos Sousa foi 7.º na etapa deste domingo do Dakar, mantendo assim a posição que ocupava à partida (7.ª) para a tirada que ligou Antofagasta a Copiapo.
O vencedor foi Stéphane Peterhansel, mas Carlos Sainz aproveitou também para aumentar a diferença para a concorrência dos seus companheiros de equipa da Volkswagen, terminando em segundo. O terceiro foi Mark Miller.
